Today was a "day off" for our hard-working olympian singers! Instead, we spent the day in London! Groups set off to see the sights of their choice in the morning in the Southbank precinct, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we all visited the Tower of London to view the Crown Jewels and learn all about its history. Built beginning in the 1080s by William the Conqueror, and updated and expanded throughout the next several hundred years, the tower is an unbelievable fortress with an amazing history. The Crown Jewels were beautiful, many of us are seeing them as the best possible souvenirs! Not much luck in acquiring any, though!

Today was an Olympic Day!!! It started with a performance at the historic and breathtaking Canterbury Cathedral. After a quick lunch, we boarded the bus for Wembley Stadium! Attending the women's soccer semi-final of France v. Japan was a real treat. We cheered hard for the Japanese team so they could make it to the final round and meet team USA! Our women are looking for redemption after last year's loss to Japan in the World Cup!! Go, team! Dinner was less than expected, but all found a decent meal and were ready for home.

Our first full day in London! Many students (and parents) were tired and used the morning bus ride to catch up on some much needed rest. We spent some time exploring the Knightsbridge Precinct (Harrods!), then arrived on Exhibition Road, an Olympic venue, to perform for passersby. What an amazing job the Madrigals did! They were even discussed on a live radio show on the BBC. We also had an impromptu practice in front of the United States Olympic Committee headquarters, followed by a familiar American dinner of burgers and fries (Happy kids!!!) In all, an amazing day!
